1935 Austin 12/4 Low Loader London Taxi-Cab. In 1760 there was the "hackney hell carts."1823 a two seat two-wheeler carriage was introduced known as the cabriolet. In 1897 the first motor powered electric cabs was introduced. 1929 saw the Austin "high lot" cabs, and the low loader taxi cabs came about in 1934.
Note:The name Hackney as in Hackney carriages was derived from the Norman French word "Hacquenée" which means horse for hire,
