The first Curtis P-40M Warhawk went in flight in November of 1942. A majority of these aircraft were sent to different air force squadrons such as the RAF, the RAAF and the RNZAF as the Kittyhawk III. They were powered by the Allison V-1710-18 engine at 1200 hp for takeoff.
