A total of 1300 Lotus Elan Sprint fitted with the latest Big-Valve version of the Lotus twin cam engine at the time of production. It was manufactured between 1971 and 1973. Each Lotus Elan Sprint body was individually hand-moulded in glass-fibre reinforced plastic a material that was cost effective and unaffected by corrosion. The Lotus Elan Sprint was also fitted with Servo assisted disc brakes that brought the car to a standstill from 100mph in around five seconds flat.
