Bruce McLaren built the first prototype McLaren M6 A1 for the 1967 Can-AM Series. In the 1967 Can-Am Bruce McLaren was the dominant victor of that race. It was very sad that Bruce McLaren had a fatal accident 2nd June 1970 at Goodwood when the McLaren M8D prototype car he was testing crashed
